Cater for Climate is the new name for the Business School’s consultancy service helping schools, hospitals and other public caterers to reduce their climate impacts. Led for eight years by Professor Angela Tregear, and based on European and UKRI-funded research, the service shows catering teams which parts of their operations generate most emissions, and what adjustments they should make for a net zero pathway. Over 20 catering services have been supported to date, including Torfaen Borough Council in Wales, who went on to win ‘Best Decarbonisation Initiative’ at the Association of Public Service Excellence Awards last year. Now, thanks to funding from a UKRI Impact Accelerator Award, Cater for Climate can harness the power of a new data processing tool to provide faster results at an affordable cost.
